January 23-29

Back to Seattle, where the full color photos were filled with shades of black and grey.  The silver sun looking like a pale moon.  I ventured to Golden Gardens to capture a sunset.  I started taking pictures of crows in silhouette.  The fog blanketing every corner of my world every day.  The only color to stand out was the green of mossy rocks, moss on the trees, moss on the ground.  This was a dramatic contrast to the colors of the desert I just left, but I embraced the grey with both arms open wide.

I remembered when I came to Seattle to find a place to live- just before I moved here.  I remember flying into Seatac airport and seeing the ground-green in February and I was dumbstruck.  I had never seen anything like that before.  This is indeed the Emerald City.  The winter greys make that green burst out with bright abandon.  There is something about it all that is so enchanting to me.
